| Chippy over at CarryPad is working through benchmarks for his newly acquired Toshiba AC100 over in Europe (see his first impressions and hands on videos) and first tests show huge promise in terms of performance – it’s clearly faster than any smartphone out there as seen in his chart below (cut off).
He was able to play 13Mbps 1080p H.264, 8.5Mbps WMV and 6.5Mbps video with no issues (apart from the default player crashing occasionally), and Raging Thunder 2 at the default 1024 x 600 resolution on the AC100 is apparently blistering fast. Great to hear about the performance. Battery life on the other hand, particularly on the AC100 at it is now, is not looking as great. Chippy and I have been testing standby time (with screen off, Wi-Fi) and the battery dies…. overnight. Clearly there is some kind of hardware / firmware issue at play here. My tests show the battery dead in around 12 hours. Battery life tops out at 6 hours, 5 hours is what you’ll get most of the time with typical usage. News Source: Netbook News |
