| It has been a while since I posted up my last review. To say I have been off track in terms of scheduling my reviews would be an understatement. However, I do plan to get back on track starting today. It's been a long two months since the New Year and there are still a lot of good things coming ahead for Netbook Updates. Anyways, back on the topic of the current review. We have a pretty interesting product in our hands and it comes from a company known as hField, which I must admit I have not heard of before. However, it is nevertheless nice to know that there are still companies out there competing in this market(for our attention). You'll be happy to hear that the product we have today has received plenty or praise from users and reviewers alike. The product we got with us for testing is the hField Wi-Fire, a multi-directional USB Wi-Fi adapter. It boasts long ranges and comes with its own custom software to boot. It seems hfield even has some field tests to offer as proof, au contraire to many others. We will hold them to these results and those of various other testers and see just how well it stacks up in this category. Does it take the crown in terms of performance and portability? Read on to find out! Without further adieu let's head into this review today. (or i might say, "i present you - official name blabla, but that sounds cheezy).

Submitted by shc-boomer on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 11:56| Recently, I have been getting a lot of emails and even texts from friends asking about the reviews for Netbook Updates. Most of them wonder why I haven't been writing on here lately, and to be honest there was a very good reason. I'm currently studying at Simon Fraser University in my first year of computing science. Running from class to class, doing all the homework and worst of all writing all those midterms and exams, isn't exactly the most fun. But it will however, pay back in the future I hope. Anyways, I will be spending a lot more time on here after going through my first semester already and be back on track for new reviews, perspectives and even a Winter Giveaway soon. (I may have already said too much about it already, but that's ok, people will love the things we have in store this holiday season) I have been working quite hard to get not only a passing grade but also to get through all those tough exams. So speaking of new things going on, we also have a new company with new products that we will be taking a look at today. Anyways, we have a treat for everyone today with our latest review. It is from a company called Choiix which is a new subsidiary of Cooler Master. They are namely a more design innovated company, creating products that would fit everyone's needs. Anyways, today we have the Choiix Mini Air-Through for testing today, a cooler specifically designed for 7" to 10" netbooks. We will see how well it actually manages to cool our netbooks.

Reviews | Nanovision Mimo 2G UM-720S
Submitted by shc-boomer on Tue, 09/01/2009 - 10:26| Wow, it's September already! Time for students go back to school and for the rest of us to enjoy the last few days of summer. This will be our second review on Netbook Updates and to say the least, this is an interesting product. As a netbook and desktop user, I have always been looking for a portable and simple way to extend my desktop just a little bit or have additional space for widgets or even a dock. Surprising such a device does exist in the market these days. Today's product does just that with a slim design. The Nanovision Mimo 2G UM-720S that we are taking a look at is a touchscreen USB external monitor. Nanovision has been known for their Mimo line of portable USB external monitors. From their previous first generation and their new 2G, second generation slim monitors, they have gotten praise for their designs and innovation. The UM-720S which was just recently released was sent to us for review in a timely manner. We are one of the first sites to receive a sample and we are honored to have received this product so early on. However, the review took longer since we had to set a new standard for monitors with a touchscreen. Anyways, we will be taking a look at the Nanovision Mimo 2G UM-720S today.

Reviews | Gingle UP-04 4G
Submitted by shc-boomer on Fri, 08/14/2009 - 08:56| Well, it's quite a big day for Netbook Updates today, this will be our first official review of any product on our site. We decided to start out small just as we did with our contests. Not to worry though, I am quite experienced in terms of reviewing and I will do my best to review each and every product that lands in our office. Anyways, as netbooks become more and more popular, we see a growing trend of users using USB thumb drives and flash memory once again. This is especially true for netbook users that have a small capacity SSD. As this market grows again, so does the interest in more portable solutions for storage. I for one, would not carry a USB thumb drive with my netbook if it's too big or sticks out too much when plugged in. Today we will be taking a deeper look into the Gingle UP-04 4G. Although I have not heard much about Gingle or its parent company Carry Technology before, they do claim to hold over 200 patents. That seems to be pretty impressive for a company that started back in 1991.
